This project is to facilitate the raising and breeding of rabbits. The goal of the project is to allow students from the 5 high schools to see all aspects of the rabbit industry from breeding, marketing, showing and processing.
The rabbits are owned by Manteca Unified School District which allows for the students to be active in an animal project with no real cost to them. Students will be allowed to raise and produce rabbit’s that will be sold for meat, projects or pets. All proceeds from sales will go into the farm account where expenses will also be abducted from. The students will work with the rabbits in every aspect. So not only will they feed, water and clean-up after them but they will also be responsible for breeding, giving medicine and daily care. Students are required to keep a record book to record their hours they work. They can use these hours towards their degrees in the FFA.
